Hello

Sorry I haven't updated in over three years.   Life goes on.   Willie, Goobie, Woody, Flip Flop and Maddie have gone to the bridge.
Eddie, Bailey and Binx have been added to the bunch.
I'm working for the State of NJ as a case manager.

Six months

Six months, much as happened.

I'm working. Not making much but I am working. I am working three part-time jobs. One is for the Census Bureau, one is for Princeton University and the third is for a medical day program in North Jersey.

Both Gracie and Smitten crossed over the bridge. Smitten in August and Gracie in December. I miss them both.

Willie is my new foster. He is a handsome white red-eyed New Zealand. He may be a keeper. I am adding a mini-rex named LB to the bunch. I found him on craigslist. I hope to add another special needs bun to the fold after the New Year. More on him later.

Christmas is here and it's snowing. Actually it is a blizzard here in NJ.

Note to self. Don't wait six months to update.

Another pointless post

Just in a mood.

Smitten is now paralyzed. She is doing okay. I just have to make sure she is kept clean. She likes the dog bed I bought for her. I bought two.

The other rabbits are doing well. I have a guest bun in the bedroom. Ally is her name. She was suppose to be adopted but we held her back due to illness. She is doing better today. So hopefully, the adoption doesn't fall through.

Finally working but not much. It's a struggle.

Smitten and the rest

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I just haven't been in the mood.

Smitten was in the hospital in November. She is doing better. She still has weakness in her hind quarters. It is probably the dreaded EC. As long as she eating and enjoying life I will everything I can for her.

Still not working. I'm not even sure I can unemployment as I quit my last job. I figured they were going to fire me anyway.

I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to keep my condo if I don't start working soon. I'm already three months behind. Probably will be four months.

Not Lost

I haven't forgotten about Archie and her babies. I did rescue her friend Jordy. He is with another foster.

I also recently bailed out 11 others from the same shelter. There were six young rabbits, four are lop mixes and two white New Zealands. There was a young Californian male. I have two Dutch girls (probably sisters), a Silver Marten female and an English Spot male.

The Dutch sisters I named Claire and Gracie. The Silver Marten is named Marti and the Charlie is the English Spot. Charlie was neutered a week ago. Claire and Marti will be spayed within the next week or so. Gracie was very underweight when I got her and she has coccidia (a parasite). She also had a leg injury. She has put on weight and her leg is better.

Least we forget...

Archie was just another cast off stray pet in a noisy overcrowded animal shelter. She also was a mother rabbit protecting her newborn babies. Saturday morning a shelter worker was cleaning the cage and moved Archie's babies. She bit the shelter worker. Their lives were ended that morning.

This incident made me sick. I have taken action to make sure that this is less likely to happen again. I can't say it won't happen again but with some education it will decrease the chances that another rabbit or any other animal for that matter will not meet Archie's fate.

And Archie is just not another pet discarded by humans. Her voice will be heard.

And so it goes...

And so did the job after a week and a half. Budget cuts. Why did the heck did they hire me then? Back on unemployment for me.

Woody

Woody is very sweet. He was having a grand time hopping around the house today.

Life and such and all that

Life can throw you a breaking ball that breaks at the last moment down at your knees making you swing and miss. And, sometimes it is a 95 mile an hour fast ball at your head. I think had both in the last two months.

Okay I lost my job. Now I have a new job after a nail bitting six weeks. I wasn't sure if I could keep my condo. Anyway, I think things are on the upswing. Job starts tomorrow. Now I have to get used to getting up early again. Should be interesting.

Peter my lop passed away due to an infection. He had a jaw abscess. I really thought he would pull through.

Smitten may have the early signs of E. Cuniculi. At least she has some of the symptoms. Great!

Abner moved on to his furever home with a nice young woman. She absolutely adores him and him her.

And, it looks like Monty may be going to his forever home as well. I actually considered adopting him. He's been here eight months. I'm really going to miss him.

I adopted Woody, the rabbit formerly known as Coco, from a shelter yesterday. He is a very handsome mini-lop. Boyfriend does needs to be neutered.

So that is my life. Any questions? I have too many. And not many answers.

Time flies

Sorry I haven't been on here in sometime. Busy I am. The roomies are fine. I have since added Maddie as my roomie. She is very sweet and funny. I can't believe someone just dumped her outside. I bailed her out of the county shelter on February 29th. That is same day I got my braces off.

More rabbits

I must be crazy. I brought home Abner today from PAWS in Philadelphia. He seemed so stressed out and a bit underweight. He melted in arms. I'm such a sucker.

Do Rabbits have Christmas?

This cute book attempts to answer that question. I haven't read it but plan to get a copy for my collection.

Just a sample:

Christmas in the Country

Run, little wild ones,
over the snow,
peek through the trees
where yourselves won’t show,
look at the lights on our Christmas tree,
brighter than any stars you’ll see!

Year of the Rabbit

Timid and attractive, the Rabbits of the Chinese Zodiac tend to act more like bunnies, whether they like it or not! This Sign is extremely popular and has a wide circle of family and friends. Its compassionate nature leads it to be very protective of those it holds dear, but where romance is concerned, the Rabbit's sentimentality can lead it to idealize relationships. The sweet, sensitive Rabbit often ends up giving more of itself to a partner than is realistic or healthy. The good news is, when this Sign goes off-balance, the Rabbit's core group of friends and its stable home life help bring it back to center.
The Rabbit is a rather delicate Sign that needs a solid base in order to thrive. Lacking close, supportive friends and family, the Rabbit might just break down in tears at the first sign of conflict. Emotional upsets in this Sign's life can even lead to physical illnesses. Rabbits dislike arguments and other conflict and will try anything to avoid a fight; this results in something of a pushover nature. Rabbits can also lapse into pessimism and may seem stuck in life -- often to mask their insecure natures. Rabbits tend to move through life's lessons at their own, rather contemplative pace; it's a waste of time to become exasperated with this Sign's seeming disinterest in facing its problems and conquering them.
With the right partner -- meaning someone whose high principles won't allow it to take advantage of this sensitive, giving Sign -- the Rabbit can make an incredibly loving and protective partner or family member. Rabbits love to entertain at home and always make sure their house is comfortable and tastefully-furnished. What Rabbits need most is a stronger sense of self-worth and the security that comes with it. Their discerning natures, coupled with some hard-won assertiveness, will help these happy creatures go far.
The most compatible match for a Rabbit is the Sheep or the Pig.

Merry Christmas!

The hopping roommates wish everyone and everybun a Hoppy Christmas. Be safe. If someone does something nice for you pass it forward.

Max

Max is doing better since his neuter. He still is a bit cage aggressive. I hope that will lessen once he learns to trust me.

Monty is doing well. Quite the little character. He will make a good pet for a responsible older child or young adult.

Max

Max is the new bun in the house. What a little character. I think he is making up for all the time he spent locked away in his cage in a basement. I understand he was rescued from a garage with another rabbit that later died for an unknown reason. Max was sent packing to the basement. The only person who even paid any attention to him was his rescuer's father. His rescuer saved him and apparently decided she didn't want to be bothered with him. Anyway some kind people saved him from a that life and now I have him. Not sure if he is going to stay mine or be rehomed through the rescue I volunteer for. He definitely needs to be neutered. Pics to follow.
